Introduction to Prostate Examination models

The prostate examination model is a medical teaching tool specifically designed for the learning and training of prostate examination techniques, especially suitable for the clinical skills training of urologists and medical personnel. This model highly simulates the male prostate and related anatomical structures, helping trainees familiarize themselves with the examination procedures of the prostate and master operational skills such as digital rectal examination (DRE).

1. "Model Structure and Function"

Prostate examination models are usually made of soft materials to simulate the anatomical structure of the male anus, rectum and prostate. The model is equipped with a tangible prostate and the surrounding related tissues. Trainees can simulate digital rectal examination to check the size, texture and hardness of the prostate, and identify whether there are any abnormalities (such as prostate enlargement, induration and other lesions).

Based on different degrees of prostate cancer, we have designed four interchangeable prostate types.

Stage One: Benign, slightly enlarged, but normal prostate mimics the benign stage.

2. Stage Two: There are two indistinct hard nodules in the prostate (one in the left lobe; The other one is at the beginning stage of the right lobe simulation.

3. Stage 3: Large masses are easily palpable in the prostate, simulating the middle stage. The small nodule has enlarged and has become an external hard lump on the surface of the gland.

4. Stage 4: Simulated terminal stage of malignant invasive prostate cancer. This gland was completely replaced by cancer. The entire gland will feel hard and irregular.

2.  Operating Procedures

The operation process of the prostate examination model usually includes:

Preparation and Positioning  : Ensure that the patient is in an appropriate position, usually lying on their side or standing. The doctor wears gloves and uses lubricant.

Digital Rectal examination  : The doctor inserts a finger through the anus to touch and examine the size, shape, texture, etc. of the prostate. Through the model, trainees can simulate this operation and perceive the tactile sensations of different lesions.

Abnormal Detection  : Through the model, trainees can simulate touching abnormal conditions such as prostate masses and nodules, and learn how to distinguish between normal and diseased prostates.

3.  Training Effect

The prostate examination model provides trainees with a risk-free practice environment, helping them become familiar with the standard operating methods of prostate examinations. Through repeated practice, trainees can improve the accuracy of their techniques, reduce mistakes in clinical practice, and ensure the safety and comfort of patients.

Conclusion

The prostate examination model is an indispensable tool in medical education. Through simulation design, it provides trainees with an intuitive and reliable training platform, helping them master the skills of prostate examination, improve their clinical skills, and enhance patients' trust
